Presented in conjunction with the 19th International Architecture Exhibition and the 82nd Venice International Film Festival, the exhibition will run through September 30, 2025.
To mark the opening, a series of artistic and musical performances by post-rock ensemble FORRM took place during the first week of the exhibition, held across various venues in Venice : FORRM Palazzo Dandolo 30.08.2025 Performance, Unofficial FORRM at Galeria ITINERARTE 02.09.2025, FORRM BOUTIQUE DJ SET Bea Vita 06.09.2025.
These events are conceived as a dynamic extension of FarmanFarmaian’s immersive multidisciplinary practice.
Taking its title from a line of dialogue by Casanova, VOYAGE IN INEXISTANT LAND explores the themes of magic, reverie, and the disappearance of myth in contemporary culture. The show marks a return to painting and abstraction, inviting visitors into imagined landscapes that question the boundaries between memory, myth, and reality.
The exhibition builds on FarmanFarmaian’s ongoing engagement with cultural memory and narrative. His notable participation in the 59th International Art Exhibition – La Biennale di Venezia featured GATES OF TURAN at the Kyrgyz Pavilion, a work that captivated audiences with it exploration of cultural heritage. Complementing this, his latest film Path—shot in Kyrgyzstan and
Venice—serves as a cinematic extension of GATES OF TURAN, capturing the essence of his artistic vision and deepening its themes through the language of film. In a space that drifts between the tangible and the intangible, VOYAGE IN INEXISTANT LAND whispers softly. Once, the world resonated with echoes of the unknowable—myths and shadows entwined, inviting us to fleeting dreams. As we reached for clarity, perhaps we let slip the enchanting mysteries that linger just beyond.

The exhibition will unfold in a ‘non-lieu,’ a realm suspended in a haze of contemplation. Here, forms blur and textures fade, each piece a fragment of forgotten reveries, evoking sensations that hover just out of reach. Displacement, a necessary voyage, echoes through the stillness, reminiscent of Casanova’s musings in the twilight of exile, where absence transforms into a delicate exploration of self.As we navigate this ethereal expanse, we are beckoned to reclaim the shimmering echoes of lostwonder, to catch fleeting glimpses of stories that linger in the s ilence of our collective memory.
As the artist states:
“I established my atelier in Essaouira following my participation in the 59th Venice Biennale in 2022, connecting both locations within my creative process by sourcing materials from each city for my exhibitions and installations. VOYAGE IN INEXISTANT LAND is a result of this unlikely dialogue, capturing a pivotal moment in my inner conversation where cultural substance and heavily researched projects give way to an ethereal leap into the realm of imaginative exploration. The title of the exhibition, inspired by a dialogue from Fellini's Casanova, perfectly reflects my state of mind—a meditative space of junctures and new horizons. It embodies a moment of pause before we regain the path forward toward new forms.”
